Haney took part in the Ring Magazine's historic Times Square card in New York which also featured rival Ryan Garcia who faced Rolando Romero. 

It was expected a rematch between Garcia and Haney would follow if both men emerged victorious, however the former failed to hold up his end of the bargain by losing to Romero by unanimous decision. 

This was not the only negative to emerge from that night in New York with Haney's performance being branded as boring by many of those watching and questioning whether he is still a force within boxing. 

Speaking to a number of media outlets, Stevenson explained what needs to change for Haney in order for him to return to the peak of his powers. 

"I think that he just needs to get a little more confident,” Stevenson said.

“If he gets his confidence back to 100% after what happened to him, you can tell he’ll be in a good position.”

Following his stoppage win over Josh Padley in February, Stevenson is set to make another defence of his world title on July 12 when he faces William Zepeda in a long-awaited matchup live on DAZN.
